Body Armour!

ChinnyPea says:

"Major squealing session today!

From when I saw you in the opening wide shot - Oooh! Mustard! Colour! *squeal*

Then I noticed those curvy lines down one side of the jacket which I assumed to be some sort of print or sewn-on embellishment. *squeal*

When they cut to a tighter shot, I realised that I was wrong! It's actually a strap-on tan leather(?) contraption! A half-body armour! A holster! Woo! *squeal squeal squeal*

Oh, Lee Lin, I love it when you surprise us like that! *squeal*"

ChinnyEm says:

"Holy mackerel Chinny!
I'll get the lame holster pun outta the way-'Bang bang, you shot me down bang bang I hit the ground bang bang'- oh how your sartorial eloquence shoots me down! This is like Colonel Sanders meets The Fifth Element. GARGH just another reason (on top of the ever increasing pile) why I'd like to find out what motivates/influences you to dress the way you do. I am going to print this picture out and stick it next to my mirror when I get dressed. It's not often I print inspiration pictures but this is too good."

Back On Rotation

Image from SBS

ChinnyPea says:

"The white broderie anglaise jacket is back! Yay!!!!

With a new blouse loaded with ruffles in a medium sea green lined with white. Like waves and foam. I love it!

Have to complain about the colour registration again on the SBS website! Your blouse is grey on the site (and in the image here) when it was such a lovely green when I watched you on TV tonight. Bah."

ChinnyEm says:

"ChinnyPea took the words right outta my mouth. Exactly like sea waves and foam. Your blouse is like this! Once again I'm wondering where you get your clothes from...you'll have to divulge your secrets to us one day!

Floral + Bondage = Woohoo!

Images from Designer People on SBS

ChinnyPea says:
"Ooooh, legs again! In skinny and slinky black bondage-like pants! Paired with an unexpected shiny floral blouse. And shoes which looked like they have bouncy big pompoms at the toes. What can I say, Lee Lin, but that you've done it again!

Had dinner with a friend of mine on Friday and he said that it's the worst outfit that he's seen on you, that he doesn't like it when you wear things that make you look like a stick. I pooh-poohed his views and said that there are loads of people out there who want to look like one but are just not naturally-blessed, that you should flaunt what you have. Even if you do look like a stick, at least you're a very well-dressed one."

ChinnyEm says:

"Loved this outfit as soon as I saw it! It's just so tacky in the most wonderful way! It takes someone special to wear a sheeny table cloth print shirt with bondage pants and psychedelic sunnies and a matching shade of lippy to boot!
Um, is that an eggplant print on your top?! I applaud you!"

Flower Bomb

ChinnyPea says:
"Black again?! Boo.

Didn't matter though. Couldn't take my eyes off that bit of blue tulle explosion on your arm! Love it when you add crazy details! And the earrings in a matching shade! 100 points!"

ChinnyEm says:"Hey it's the spirit level jacket again, but this time it's back with a bit of tulle on the side! OMGOSH readers may not be able to see the earrings in this picture but they were amazing! The exact colour of that bit of tulle. Don't you have a ring that is a similar blue as well?"

Pretty In Prints

ChinnyPea says:
"Ooooooh, Lee Lin! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this outfit!!!!

I believe this is the first time that I've seen you in a printed piece since we started documenting your wardrobe.

Love the colours! The print! And the little bolero jacket with the sharp angles that is kind of like an extention of the pointy bits on your dress/blouse. Great touch! Woo!"

ChinnyEm says:
"Oooh I love it when you try new things. The pointy ends are like the ends of napkins....heheheh! You know what my dad said to me upon seeing this outfit? 'Wow, she's really different and brave. She's so unique... like an unofficial ambassador for SBS...just because of her clothes'. Hahaha, I think he really admires your style Chinster. Keep it up!"

Summer Whites

Image from Designer People on SBS

ChinnyPea says:
"Oh, Lee Lin! No multiple wardrobe changes this week?

It's alright. You've been spoiling us the last few weeks. Tee hee hee.

Love this white number! Reminds me of early Issey Miyake. Do you like his designs? I think they are very "you" and you'll look great in them!"

ChinnyEm says: Those wardrobe changes were EPIC by the way.
Yay fresh white! And I like that there's a lot of green in the background. White + green is so nice!

Have You Been Reading This Blog, Lee Lin?!!!!!

ChinnyPea says:
"Seriously.

Are you wearing this charcoal number for me because I've been going on about how I love you in grey here and here?! Or am I flattering myself?

I'm deeply in love with this jacket! Not only because it's in that colour but also the cut and the fabric.

It looks like a very shiny men's pyjamas top crossed with a puffa jacket! And that disc detail on the arms! Love love love! I want to see the rest of it that's hidden under the news desk!"

ChinnyEm says: "If you are reading, we are very very flattered. I think you know that grey is a great colour on you. I've just returned from China, the land of endless variations of puffa jackets. Ah, if only they wore puffa jackets in steel grey like yours!"

Sheer Delight!

ChinnyPea says:
"Sorry for the cheesy post title but PHWOAR!

A white sheer vest over a black sheer blouse! Genius, I think. As much as I don't like black.

Lee Lin the Layering Lady is back!"

ChinnyEm says: "Well HEL-LO! Smoking use of sheer materials! Use of monochrome that I certainly approve of! Sheer + layers= two of my favourite things to see on you!"

Sheer Red

ChinnyPea says:
"I love how striking your red dress looked in the midst of grey old Martin Place in Sydney amongst all the boring black city suits in this week's episode of Designer People. Great choice of wardrobe, Lee Lin!

And the sheer-over-opaque and cut-out shoulders of the dress! Woo!"

ChinnyEm says: "Hello Miss Oriental! Can't see this picture clearly but it looks a bit like a Qi Pao to me. Lovely shade, lovely sheer light and delicate piece!!! Look at you, you're the only bit of colour in the almost monocrhome backgroun!
Oh Chinny Pea, if only you had happened to be in Martin Place during this time! "

The Blue Blazer Strikes Again!

Image from SBS

ChinnyPea says:
"Tee hee hee! A repeat of what you wore on Sunday 11 October 2009!

This time with one button undone and no ruffles showing.

I wonder if you use this little blog as a reference when you get dressed for your weekly spots on the news. Like "Oh, I wore this quite a while ago so maybe it's time to wear it again" or "Hmmm...how did I wear this the last time? Let's pair it with something else". Do you?"

ChinnyEm says: "Well you're welcome to use this as a reference blog if you'd like! Either you are doing that or just simply making good use of your wardrobe! :D
You seem to have a very serious look on your face. I wasn't in Aus to catch this bulletin but I wonder if you dress to suit what news you are reading...say, you'll wear something more bright when there are more positive stories that day...I'm reading too much into it aren't I? Hehe."

Weyhey! Grey!

Image from SBS

ChinnyPea says:
"You know I like it when you wear grey, Lee Lin! It's the hair, I think.

This is an interesting piece albeit in a colour that some might think is boring.

Love how the sleeves are joined to the body with curves more exaggerated than the usual. A clever bit of tailoring there! The jacket would be just another jacket if it weren't for them."

ChinnyEm says: "Okay I think I'm able to breathe again. After all those heart stopping outfits I saw in previous posts, this understated number is letting me catch my breathe. Grey does indeed suit you very very much and I love all the roundness in this jacket. It's also making me feel very...hm at peace. Calmed. I guess it is quite plane jane in comparison to previous outfits but it's a nice break from the WOWZA things...and plus, it's better for my heart's health. Hehe."

A Fashion-Filled Episode Of "Designer People"

ChinnyPea says:
"Happy New Year, Lee Lin! From me and ChinnyEm who's still away on her China adventure.

I missed not having you reading the news over the New Year weekend but your multi-wardrobe changes on this Thursday's episode of Designer People more than made up for that. But of course you had to do that because it's an episode about fashion - the wonderful creations of Chinese designer Qiu Hao.

Starting with this show-stopper show-opener!

A black body-con number with the amazing flexible sculptural panel running down the front. I will forgive you again for wearing black.

Then we cut to you on a sheep farm wearing this gorgeous gorgeous coat.

Military Man meets Victorian Miss. Love it! The colour, the silhouette, the details, everything! Is it a piece by Dame Westwood?

And there's you again walking in a mall in that beautiful grey dress. Despite the wide shot, I can still make out the folds and drapes! I think I'll just fall over and die if I ever see the dress in a tighter shot!

Back on the farm again. This time with Qiu Hao. Isn't he just so talented? I'm in love with his work. And he seemed such a lovely person too. You lucky thing, Lee Lin! You got to meet him and talked shop! Very very envious.

And another amazing coat! Can't really see the details but the silhouette is enough to make me swoon!

Keep them coming, please! We're looking forward to seeing more of you and your stunning wardrobe in 2010! xx"

ChinnyEm says: "oh I can't believe I missed out on all this brilliance while I was away!!! This episode alone would have rendered me speechless. I mean, how many show stopping outfits do you want to pull on ChinnyPea in one episode?! I don't even know what to say now...maybe that I never thought you'd be game enough for body con. Oh how wrong I was to think that. SO AMAZING SO AMAZING SO AMAZING"
