White On White

Images from Designer People on SBS

ChinnyPea says:

"Oh, Lee Lin, I love love love this outfit!

I love white as much as I hate black. The ruffles on your blouse, the body harness again, the pants cropped to my favourite length, the red shoes which you replaced with pointy white ones later in the episode. Woo!"

ChinnyEm says:

"Oh look at you, cutey, in white, peach and ruffles! Simply adorable. Of course I'm the one who likes it when you go 'ape shit' on outfits so sadly my enthusiasm for this outfit does not match ChinnyPeas. You still look lovely though."

Optical Illusion

Images from Designer People on SBS

Chinny Em says:
"Oh Lee Lin, you are an optical illusion to be reckoned with! Your suit is divine! You must have been feeling quite 'patterny' that day, with the striped shirt too. And dear god, the tassles! Pinstripe shirt with tassles and ballerina esque scultural skirt - OMG OMG OMG. I have suddenly become inarticulate. ..L-O-V-E-I-T."

ChinnyPea says:
"I always covet what you wear but this tassle-y stripey shirt and the bouncy modern-day can-can skirt top the list! I want to look like a pirate-ballerina too!

And that suit with the giant houndstooth checks! I love it even though it's in black and white. You sure look good in it and in that Eames chair!

Oh, and those pointy be-ribboned red shoes you wore throughout this episode in Korea. You sure know how to pack! They go so well with both your outfits!"

"If You Haven't Got The Zing, You Haven't Got A Thing"

Images from Designer People on SBS

ChinnyPea says:
"Ed Fella, the featured designer on this week's episode, was right about the "zing" thing. And you definitely have it, Lee Lin!

Three different outfits within the first few seconds of the programme! Woo! From that asymmetrical rara skirt (I was wondering when we're going to see you wear some neon brights and whoopeedoo, you did!) to...

...this white jacket that we love so much to...

...the floral+bondage combo from a few weeks ago!

More gratuitious screen-grabs of the club-kid outfit that we're seeing for the first time today.

You wouldn't look out of place hanging out with the rave kids in the 90s wearing what you're wearing.

Intrigued by those shoes! Can't make out what they are from a shot so wide but theylook like a cross between fluffy bedroom slippers and Dutch wooden clogs!"

ChinnyEm says:
"R for RAD. G for Grrrrreat!
Outfit overload in this ep is crazy and awesome, just like that neon skirt you have on! Never have I respected neon so much in my life!

That Elusive Grey Dress

Images from Designer People on SBS

ChinnyPea says:
"The crispy white piece that we loved from two weeks ago! Yay!

I know it's not your fault for wearing the same thing so soon. It's most probably because the segments for the two episodes were shot on the same day? At locations that were close to each other? Production logistics?

Happy that we got to see the outfit again because I missed that gigantic ring on your finger the last time. Woo!

And we get to see that foldy-drapey grey dress that you wore in that fashion-filled episode! At close range! Excitement!

I said in that post that "I'll fall over and die if I ever get to see that dress in a tighter shot".

OK, its beauty did make me keel over and stop breathing for a few minutes but I willed myself back to life for there is sooo much of you and your wardrobe that I'd love to see."

ChinnyEm says:
"I missed the start of the episode so I only caught the lovely grey dress you had on. I'm not complaining! You're only in the shots for around...20 seconds at most so I'm thankful we get to see this dress again! Dear Cameraman: next time, please zoom in on those twists and details!"

Floral + Bondage = Woohoo!

Images from Designer People on SBS

ChinnyPea says:
"Ooooh, legs again! In skinny and slinky black bondage-like pants! Paired with an unexpected shiny floral blouse. And shoes which looked like they have bouncy big pompoms at the toes. What can I say, Lee Lin, but that you've done it again!

Had dinner with a friend of mine on Friday and he said that it's the worst outfit that he's seen on you, that he doesn't like it when you wear things that make you look like a stick. I pooh-poohed his views and said that there are loads of people out there who want to look like one but are just not naturally-blessed, that you should flaunt what you have. Even if you do look like a stick, at least you're a very well-dressed one."

ChinnyEm says:

"Loved this outfit as soon as I saw it! It's just so tacky in the most wonderful way! It takes someone special to wear a sheeny table cloth print shirt with bondage pants and psychedelic sunnies and a matching shade of lippy to boot!
Um, is that an eggplant print on your top?! I applaud you!"

Summer Whites

Image from Designer People on SBS

ChinnyPea says:
"Oh, Lee Lin! No multiple wardrobe changes this week?

It's alright. You've been spoiling us the last few weeks. Tee hee hee.

Love this white number! Reminds me of early Issey Miyake. Do you like his designs? I think they are very "you" and you'll look great in them!"

ChinnyEm says: Those wardrobe changes were EPIC by the way.
Yay fresh white! And I like that there's a lot of green in the background. White + green is so nice!

Sheer Red

ChinnyPea says:
"I love how striking your red dress looked in the midst of grey old Martin Place in Sydney amongst all the boring black city suits in this week's episode of Designer People. Great choice of wardrobe, Lee Lin!

And the sheer-over-opaque and cut-out shoulders of the dress! Woo!"

ChinnyEm says: "Hello Miss Oriental! Can't see this picture clearly but it looks a bit like a Qi Pao to me. Lovely shade, lovely sheer light and delicate piece!!! Look at you, you're the only bit of colour in the almost monocrhome backgroun!
Oh Chinny Pea, if only you had happened to be in Martin Place during this time! "

A Fashion-Filled Episode Of "Designer People"

ChinnyPea says:
"Happy New Year, Lee Lin! From me and ChinnyEm who's still away on her China adventure.

I missed not having you reading the news over the New Year weekend but your multi-wardrobe changes on this Thursday's episode of Designer People more than made up for that. But of course you had to do that because it's an episode about fashion - the wonderful creations of Chinese designer Qiu Hao.

Starting with this show-stopper show-opener!

A black body-con number with the amazing flexible sculptural panel running down the front. I will forgive you again for wearing black.

Then we cut to you on a sheep farm wearing this gorgeous gorgeous coat.

Military Man meets Victorian Miss. Love it! The colour, the silhouette, the details, everything! Is it a piece by Dame Westwood?

And there's you again walking in a mall in that beautiful grey dress. Despite the wide shot, I can still make out the folds and drapes! I think I'll just fall over and die if I ever see the dress in a tighter shot!

Back on the farm again. This time with Qiu Hao. Isn't he just so talented? I'm in love with his work. And he seemed such a lovely person too. You lucky thing, Lee Lin! You got to meet him and talked shop! Very very envious.

And another amazing coat! Can't really see the details but the silhouette is enough to make me swoon!

Keep them coming, please! We're looking forward to seeing more of you and your stunning wardrobe in 2010! xx"

ChinnyEm says: "oh I can't believe I missed out on all this brilliance while I was away!!! This episode alone would have rendered me speechless. I mean, how many show stopping outfits do you want to pull on ChinnyPea in one episode?! I don't even know what to say now...maybe that I never thought you'd be game enough for body con. Oh how wrong I was to think that. SO AMAZING SO AMAZING SO AMAZING"

PHWOAR!!!

Image from Designer People Episode 4 on SBS

ChinnyPea says:
"That's right! PHWOAR, Lee Lin! And on quite a few counts too!

1. Those shiny green patent slip-ons on your feet! Perfectly Pantone-matched to the green of the Holden Commodore! Not crazy about the car. Or that colour on a car. But mad mad mad about those shoes! Everything about them!

2. Those legs! This is the first time that I've seen the shape of you legs. In trousers. And pretty tight-fitting ones at that. I think SBS should do away with the news desk every weekend when you read the news. WE WANT TO SEE MORE LEGS!!!!!

3. That outfit! Simple and clean but hot! Remind me of early Helmut Lang silhouettes.

ChinnyEm must be knocking herself now, if she's reading this, for being away. Wahahahahahahaha! (If you're reading Emmster, you can view the complete episode on Max Wolff here.)

Yes, Lee Lin, your other biggest fan is holiday-ing in Asia. It's just me holding the fort for a month. I hope you'll be debut-ing a lot more cool cool clothes while she's away. Tee hee hee."

ChinnyEm says: Hello everyone! I'm back home and back to soaking up all the Chinny that I misssed!
HAHA! Yes I do want to see more leg as well! And you know I mean that in the least pervy way possible.
To tell you the truth, I absolutely HATE this car. With a passion. Your shoes, on the other hand, I do not. Because unlike this car, they are not tacky, obnoxious (well maybe a little) or "I'm so macho and strong, look at me!".

Beetroot With A Dollop Of Tomato Sauce

ChinnyPea says:
"I don't know...the coat and the long skirt together somehow make the outfit look too "ethnic"?

Don't get me wrong, Lee Lin, I love "folksy-folky" but this ensemble is a little ancient Chinese-imperial-court wear?

Love the coat. Looks really warm and shnuggly. I'd love to see you in it with some tall boots without the "tomato sauce" skirt."

ChinnyEm says:
"Yes Chinny, my thoughts exactly- 'Hmmmmmmm'. Not quite sure what to make of this coat. Sure looks warm and attractive and it suits your surroundings but this beetroot number is maybe a little adventurous for my liking. SHOCK! 'The Chinster is too adventurous?!' I hear you say. Well I admire the bold statement (and I love beetroot [both the colour and the food] I really do but the coat; it's swamping you! And and I miss all the architectural/shapely collars you used to have going on. Still love you as always. I think I just need my impractical collar fix."

The Chinster In Singapore For "Designer People"

Image from SBS

ChinnyPea says:
"In my old 'hood! Good to see you hanging out with the cool homeboys.
And dressed so appropriately for the clammy heat! I love that white shift dress with the almost invisible wonky stripes!
Hope you didn't get any laksa or satay sauce stains on it!
Can't wait for next week's installment!"

ChinnyEm says:
"You're in ChinnyPea's native habitat! She must have been thrilled about that!

OH MY GOSH this morning, I jumped on the SBS website and finally found the video for last nights episode that I missed. I'm so happy!

I love the walking shots of you, the dress is so simple and beautiful. OH AND WHAT IS THAT YOU HAVE ON YOUR FINGER? A CHUNKY RING I SPOT!

Okay, off to enjoy the rest of the ep on Chris Lee."

Lee Lin Hosts "Designer People"

ChinnyPea says:
"Another hosting gig, Lee Lin! Yippee! It's been a long time since Fashionista! Does it mean that we get to see more of you and your amazing wardrobe every Thursday on SBS for the next twelve weeks?! Can't seem to find any information about it on the SBS website.

And the Designer People series is right up your alley, isn't it?

"Designer People travels the globe to showcase the world's leading designers in architecture, communication, industrial, interior, and fashion. Each episode centers on the creative insight of an acclaimed designer whose work shapes our lives and our surroundings."

Things that I'm into too! Besides fashion.

Talking about that...what you wore on it! Man!

We keep going on about you wearing too much black but this is some interesting black!

Did you wear something "architectural" because the featured designer this evening is an architect? Tee hee hee.

The lines of your dress is defintely more fluid than that of Ole Scheeren's CCTV building but I love them both. And the contrast in the first image of you standing in front it!

Looking forward to our date next Thursday evening! xx"

ChinnyEm says:
"Oh my god! WHAT?! This happened on Thursday night?! That was when I was working! Any chance I can catch this online?
Never mind, I will find away to watch my beloved in action.
The best thing about this will definitely be seeing the clothes in action. It's one thing to see your jackets from a front on angle but I'm sure there will be shots in this where you are moving about and showing those 'curves' off to the best of your ability. EXCITEMENT!
