Happy Purple Family

ChinnyPea says:
"Tee hee hee! Another set of contrasting lapels! Two weekends in a row. Woo!

Again, I can't help wonder if the lapels came this way or you've got some sewing elf adding fabric to your jackets. If it's the latter, I think it's such a brilliant way to update old clothes.

Love the colours! I won't wear ultra-violet myself but the mauve looks delicious!"

ChinnyEm says: "You haven't forgotten my challenge to you- to wear a new colour! This combination....WOW. Never would have thought of it. Purple is sort of like a Cadbury wrapper and the brown is like the chocolate inside. Schweeeet.
Oh I think I can see the other mauve lapel on your right hand side tucked in behind the jacket. Am I right?
You know, I really loved your mismatched lapels the other day that I tried wearing two different coloured blazers to create the same look!"

Rewind Back To October

ChinnyPea says:
"You wore this same combo back in October and you've used the vest on quite a few other occasions - here, here and here.

Oh, Lee Lin, it's getting so much harder to spot repeats of outfits as the number of worship posts grows on this blog. Haha.

But we love to see how you so cleverly mix and match all your pieces and I'm sure our readers do too so I think ChinnyEm and I might need to start using a more effective post-labelling system!"

ChinnyEm says: "Yes we see this vest all the time! Must be a personal favourite of yours. Loved this outfit the first time, and love it still.
Anyway, we shall call this vest the 'reverse penguin vest'...and ChinnyPea and I will have a discussion about a more effect post labelling system...I can't believe we've posted so much already. Feels like only yesterday in which we started the shrine."

Special Feature - A Reader's Tribute To Lee Lin!

Image from KazztheSpazz

ChinnyPea says:
"When ChinnyEm and I started this worship-blog, one of the things that we wanted to incorporate, besides the weekly dissection of Lee Lin's outfits, was a regular feature of pieces that we think Lee Lin would love. Or those that we would love to see on Lee Lin. Things that we come across in magazines...online...in shops...in our own wardrobes...but life, work, our other blogs and various side-projects somehow got in the way. And we call ourselves devoted fans. Pffftt. Haha.

Now Kazz, one of our readers and also a huge Lee Lin fan, has beaten us to it. With a margin so wide that I don't even dare dream of matching up. Crafty Kazz has gone made herself a jacket (see image above) inspired by those that Lee Lin wears! One that I'm sure Lee Lin wouldn't mind adding to her wardrobe. I wouldn't complain if Kazz offers to make me one too.

Thank you, Kazz! For giving me permission to re-post images of your amazing work here. I hope you'll constantly supply us with Lee Lin-inspired pieces for this blog seeing how ChinnyEm and I are such lazy sods.

Other readers with Lee Lin-inspired gems to share, whether it's something that you've made or bought, or pieces that you've seen around that you think is "so Lee Lin!", we would love for you to send them over. We still don't know if Lee Lin reads this blog but wouldn't it be grand to see her in something that you've picked out for her?!

Patiently waiting for your mail at chinnypea@gmail.com."

*I don't know if ChinnyEm follows Kazz's blog but if she does, I'm sure she'll be squealing with as much excitement as I did when I first saw the jacket. We'll find out when she gets back.

Victorian Neckline

ChinnyPea says:
"Wow! It's been a very long time since I've seen you wear something with a neckline so high.

I remember when I first developed a major crush on you and your wardrobe years ago, you used to wear heaps of things like that. This is certainly a good blast from the past! More, please, more!

Love love love the lacy-ness of it! And that jacket is back! Woo!"

ChinnyEm says: "Details on this jacket is just stunning. SBS should run a stockists list at the end of each bulletin. HEHE!
You know, I just watched Sherlock Holmes for the second time and my dear lady, one could only assume you recently did too. I don't blame you, Irene Adler does have quite the sartorial prowess.

Lapel Action!

ChinnyPea says:
"PHWOAR! That's some funky lapel action, man!

We know you love playing with the lapels on your jackets - folding them in, hiding them totally, making them stand upright like collars - but this, this might spawn a whole new trend!

Did the jacket come with the mismatched lapels? Or did you or the wardrobe mistress at SBS indulged in a little bit of DIY? Love love love it!"

ChinnyEm says: "OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG LOVE THIS FOREVER. I have a picture saved on my computer somewhere of a model in a suit that is hot pink on one side of her body and black on the other. The clear cut division between the colours is straight down the middle of her body (so one leg is pink, the other is black) and even her hair is parted in the middle and coloured on one side. This outfit reminds me of that picture which is a very good thing. So smart of you to pick a bright solid blue to whack in the middle too. L-O-V-E."

Trompe L'oeil

ChinnyPea says:
"Woo! New jacket! Haven't had a huge fangirl squealing fit in a while. Sure felt good to have one when I saw you this evening.

LOVE LOVE LOVE that jacket! You know I have a thing for white or colours close to white.

And those running stitches! Looks like one of those designer pieces (can't remember the label or the season) on which black dotted lines are drawn for that trompe l-oeil effect. Can't get enough of the stitches on the almost calico-like fabric. The rawness...OOOOOH!

Can't help wondering if you're wearing it inside-out on purpose. If you are, very clever, I'd say!"

ChinnyEm says: "You were absolutely correct in predicting that I'd love this jacket ChinnyPea! YES YES it's like calico! Reminds me of this exhibition I saw at NGV which featured the calico patterns of, if I remember correctly, Pierre Berge's dresses. But anyway this is amazing!"

Just Add Tulle

ChinnyPea says:
"I swear I saw another bit of tulle action on Thursday evening - you reading the evening news in this.

A rare occurrence, I thought, Lee Lin on-air midweek. Woo! When I went to the SBS website to do a screen grab the next day, I couldn't find you there! Please tell me that I didn't dream it! The boyfriend saw you too!

Or maybe I did dream it. Kind of like a fashion-clairvoyant moment because I knew you're going to add that little bit of black tulle to update the jacket that we love so much?"

ChinnyEm says: "It's horrid missing out on so much Chinny! I would have gladly given up my ticket to LMFF Runway 5 for a bulletin of yours. This jacket you have on hear is twisting with my mind. Is it a dangly clip on leather kerchief or a hidden panel in your jacket that can be zipped up and unzipped?"

Camel Coat

ChinnyPea says:

"Back to nude-y neutrals today, huh?

I don't know how you do it, Lee Lin. This jacket on another newsreader would look totally yawnsville but you've managed to give it character. The old adage "It's not what you wear but how you wear it" rings so true here. Always. With you."

ChinnyEm says:

"To continue on ChinnyPea's train of thought, no other newreader would agree to a high collar such as this. There's always something a little off kilter in your outfits Lee Lin. I like that you're not afraid to wear something a little ugly. Those other gals prefer their pretty/glam attire."

Preppy Plaid!

ChinnyPea says:

"It's been a while since you've thrown prints or patterns in the mix, Lee Lin! And of course I drooled all over the TV screen when I saw today's outfit.

I love plaid. It always manages to creep its way somehow into my Autumn/Winter wardrobe. I'm very happy that it has in yours too! Woo!

And that Peter Pan collar on the blouse is such a good touch. Makes me wonder if you're wearing a pleated schoolgirl's skirt under that news desk. Tee hee hee."

ChinnyEm says:

"Oh this is so preppy and cute! Exactly like a little private primary schooler's uniform! If the jacket was a pinafore you would have fit right in with the kiddies (if they didn't notice your stormy noggin).

Let's play the "what is she wearing under the desk?" game!
I think you're not wearing a jacket at all but actually wearing a plaid jumpsuit! Wishful thinking?"
